We are recruiting for a Head of Maintenance role for a client based at London Biggin Hill Airport. The client specializes in operating and maintaining helicopters used for various services, including Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, Aerial Surveillance, Training, and VIP Charter. They also sell helicopters and parts.
Due to internal succession, our client seeks a new Head of Maintenance to join the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the MD. The Head of Maintenance is a UK CAA Nominated Post Holder position, providing crucial leadership for all maintenance activities. Responsibilities include maintenance, modifications, and repair of Leonardo, Airbus, Bell, and Sikorsky helicopters. You will manage base managers, supporting them to lead and motivate their teams, and collaborate with maintenance planning and logistics teams to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity. You will communicate with clients to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and contribute to the company's strategy and plans.
Role Requirements:
- Ensure the MRO complies with all applicable Aviation Regulations at all times.
- Ownership and management of the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and relevant documentation.
- Ensure facilities used for aircraft or component maintenance meet all Aviation Regulations.
- Maintain an active maintenance man-hour plan, ensuring sufficient competent staff to perform, supervise, inspect, and monitor maintenance activities in accordance with regulatory approvals.
- Ensure the availability and use of necessary equipment and tools for the scope of work.
- Support the Company Safety Management System (SMS) by reporting any unsafe conditions that may affect flight safety.
- Perform and document risk assessments, applying effective controls and mitigation strategies.
Ideal Candidate:
- Currently working as a Shift Manager, Base Maintenance Manager, or Head of Maintenance.
- Experience in a Part 145 MRO environment with responsibility as a Regulatory Nominated Person.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience dealing with employees, customers, and peers.
- Background as a Part 66 B1.3, B2 Cat C rotary wing licensed aircraft engineer with progressive leadership roles.
- Expert knowledge of Rotary Wing Aircraft Maintenance Management principles.
- Practical knowledge of ISO 9001 and Safety Management System principles in an MRO environment.
- Experience in people and cultural change management.
- Strong mentoring, guiding, and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
