Job Role: Mechanical Engineer Job Type: Contract, Outside IR35 Work Type: Onsite/Hybrid Duration: 8 Weeks + Industry: Advanced Manufacturing/Defence Location: Cambridge Rate: £500/day to £600/day (ltd/Umbrella Available) Job Role – Mechanical Engineer Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Mechanical Engineer shall be responsible for the design and development of mechanical sub-modules for integration onto an advanced defence platforms platform. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong CAD design skills and experience delivering high-quality mechanical solutions. Duties – Mechanical Engineer • Design mechanical sub-assemblies and components for integration onto platforms. • Develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Creo. • Manage and maintain design data within Windchill PLM systems. • Support design reviews and ensure compliance with project requirements. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver solutions to demanding timelines. • Liaise with manufacturing suppliers and production facilities to support rapid prototyping and low-volume manufacture. • Recommend suitable materials, manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture approaches. Skills/Experience – Mechanical Engineer • Proven mechanical design engineering experience. • Proficiency in PTC Creo CAD software & AAX plugin. • Experience using Windchill for product data and configuration management.
