We are looking to appoint an experienced Workshop Manager with a welding and fabrication background to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of our workshop. This role is key to ensuring efficient production, quality compliance, and effective staff management.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Full day-to-day management of the workshop
  • Programming and managing the work schedule to meet production demands
  • Ordering materials and managing stock levels
  • Daily coordination with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
  • Liaising closely with the Managing Director on:
    • Future workload planning
    • Resolving fabrication and technical queries
    • Managing the Quality Assurance (QA) system
    • Ensuring day-to-day compliance with QA requirements
    • Preparation for audits and supporting audit activities
    • Agreeing QA system modifications with the Managing Director as required
  • Management, supervision, and development of workshop staff
  • Organising recruitment of new workshop personnel in conjunction with the Managing Director

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a Workshop Manager or senior supervisory role
  • Strong welding and fabrication background (time-served preferred)
  • Experience managing production schedules and materials
  • Sound knowledge of QA systems and audit preparation
  • Ability to resolve fabrication and technical issues effectively
  • Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
  • Proactive and solutions-focused approach
