The role:
As a Stores Person, you will play a vital role in supporting our operational teams by ensuring materials, equipment, and resources are available where and when they are needed. You'll be responsible for maintaining an efficient stores operation, managing stock, supporting site teams, and helping to ensure a safe and well-maintained working environment.
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines stock control, logistics, equipment management, and facility support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys organisation, problem-solving, and working as part of a team.
Please note: This is a part-time role working 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage stock levels and accurately pick, issue, and replenish materials in line with operational requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe stores environment, ensuring materials and equipment are stored correctly.
- Carry out routine stock checks and support periodic stock takes to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Process material returns, requisitions, purchase orders, and goods receipts in a timely manner.
- Order stock items and identify requirements for new materials and equipment.
- Support operational teams by preparing and coordinating materials and equipment for site activities.
- Carry out monthly vehicle checks and PAT testing for office and operational equipment.
- Complete routine safety inspections and compliance checks, including fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks, and legionella monitoring.
- Maintain accurate records of safety, maintenance, and compliance activities.
- Inspect branch equipment, including harnesses, ladders, and steps, ensuring they remain safe and fit for use.
- Coordinate equipment calibration activities and carry out routine calibration checks where required.
- Support the receipt, dispatch, wrapping, and shipment of materials and equipment.
- Assist with deliveries and logistics activities to support operational and site-based teams.
- Undertake general maintenance and housekeeping duties at company facilities, helping to maintain a safe and professional working environment.
What You’ll Need:
- Previous experience within a stores, warehouse, stock control, logistics, or materials management environment.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence or relevant certification.
- Good IT skills, with the ability to use stock management systems and process orders electronically.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and work effectively in a busy environment.
- A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
