The role: As an Electrical Estimator with Omega Red Group, you will play a key role in shaping winning proposals by analysing project requirements, developing accurate cost models, and collaborating closely with engineering and commercial teams. Your work will ensure that solutions are both commercially competitive and technically compliant, meeting client expectations and industry standards. This is a detail-oriented role requiring strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple tenders within tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate electrical estimates, including materials, labour, plant, subcontractor packages, and risk allowances
- Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to define project scope and technical requirements
- Develop comprehensive tender submissions, including pricing schedules, clarifications, exclusions, and value-engineering options
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and ensure technical compliance
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and project teams to ensure estimates reflect practical methodologies and installation approaches
- Conduct site visits (where required) to assess project conditions, constraints, and installation considerations
- Maintain and update cost databases, pricing libraries, and estimating tools to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities within tender packages and recommend mitigation strategies
- Support project handovers by providing clear cost breakdowns and documentation to delivery teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, accuracy, and efficiency
What You’ll Need:
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within construction, power engineering, building services, or utilities
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including HV distribution, cabling, containment, switchgear, and associated installation methods
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
- Experience using estimating software or cost management tools
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines
Qualifications
Relevant electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent) – desirable
