Omega Red Group is a leading provider of earthing, lightning protection, and power engineering solutions across the UK. We are seeking a skilled Power Earthing Estimator to join our growing team. This role is critical in supporting the delivery of technically robust, commercially competitive proposals for major infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy, and industrial projects.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in power engineering and estimating. As a Trainee Power Earthing Estimator, you will support the estimating team in preparing cost models, reviewing project information, and learning how to deliver accurate and competitive proposals. Full training will be provided, alongside exposure to real projects across infrastructure, utilities, and renewable energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for earthing and electrical engineering projects.
- Support the review and interpretation of technical drawings, specifications, and site data.
- Help gather pricing information for materials, labour, and subcontractors.
- Work with senior estimators and engineers to understand earthing design principles and installation methods.
- Assist in developing tender submissions, including basic cost breakdowns and documentation.
- Attend site visits (where required) to observe installations and gather project information.
- Maintain and update cost databases and estimating tools.
- Support internal coordination between engineering, commercial, and delivery teams.
- Develop knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., BS 7430, BS EN 50522).
What You’ll Need
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English, and Science.
- Basic understanding or interest in electrical engineering, construction, or utilities.
- Some on-site experience in a construction or electrical environment (e.g., labouring, electrical mate, apprenticeship, or work placement) desirable.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Basic IT skills (Excel, Word; exposure to estimating software is a plus).
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
- Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
