We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to support our continued growth and deliver competitive, technically robust tenders for projects across commercial, industrial, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.

The Role

You will play a key role in shaping winning proposals by analysing project requirements, developing accurate cost models, and collaborating with engineering and commercial teams to ensure our solutions meet client expectations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate electrical estimates covering materials, labour, plant, subcontractor packages, and risk allowances.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope and technical requirements.
  • Develop tender submissions, including pricing schedules, clarifications, exclusions, and value‑engineering options.
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and validate technical compliance.
  • Work closely with engineering, design, and project teams to ensure estimates reflect accurate methodologies and installation practices.
  • Conduct site visits (where required) to assess conditions, constraints, and installation considerations.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, pricing libraries, and estimating tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities within tender packages and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Support project handover by providing clear documentation and cost breakdowns to delivery teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in estimating processes, accuracy, and efficiency.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within construction, power engineering, building services, or utilities.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, including HV distribution, cabling, containment, switchgear, and associated installation methods.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience using estimating software or cost‑management tools.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator able to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines.
  • Relevant electrical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent) is advantageous.
