Key Responsibilities - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Providing effective and efficient planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance to minimize losses to production.
- Ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault finding and maintenance of equipment.
- Planned and reactive maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum.
- Work with a variety of process and manufacturing machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and general mechanical fitting.
- Fault-finding to fabrication.
- Leading electrical and instrumentation repair, and working with CMMS.
- Diagnosis, resolution, and elimination of root causes of mechanical engineering faults.
- Implementation of minor equipment modifications in support of increased performance.
- Completion of all scheduled, planned corrective, reactive, and improvement maintenance as allocated.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of allocated annual equipment overhauls.
Qualifications & Requirements - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
- Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline in maintenance engineering.
- Experience in plastics, process, CNC, tooling, general manufacturing is ideal.
- Manufacturing industry experience ideal; heavy, medium, or FMCG environments considered - more about the transferable skills and culture fit.
- Knowledge of conveyor belts, drives, gearboxes, and couplings general mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is essential.
- Routine preventative maintenance; understanding of a PPM schedule.
- Finding and fixing faults quickly and effectively.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills advantageous.
- Fitting, fabricating, and welding experience preferred.
- A proactive approach to fault finding, a commitment to continuous improvement, and personal development.
