Working pattern: Days, 5:30am - 2pm, 40-hour week, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

  • Providing effective and efficient planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance to minimize losses to production.
  • Ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault finding and maintenance of equipment.
  • Planned and reactive maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum.
  • Work with a variety of process and manufacturing machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and general mechanical fitting.
  • Fault-finding to fabrication.
  • Leading electrical and instrumentation repair, and working with CMMS.
  • Diagnosis, resolution, and elimination of root causes of mechanical engineering faults.
  • Implementation of minor equipment modifications in support of increased performance.
  • Completion of all scheduled, planned corrective, reactive, and improvement maintenance as allocated.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of allocated annual equipment overhauls.

Qualifications & Requirements - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

  • Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline in maintenance engineering.
  • Experience in plastics, process, CNC, tooling, general manufacturing is ideal.
  • Manufacturing industry experience ideal; heavy, medium, or FMCG environments considered - more about the transferable skills and culture fit.
  • Knowledge of conveyor belts, drives, gearboxes, and couplings general mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is essential.
  • Routine preventative maintenance; understanding of a PPM schedule.
  • Finding and fixing faults quickly and effectively.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills advantageous.
  • Fitting, fabricating, and welding experience preferred.
  • A proactive approach to fault finding, a commitment to continuous improvement, and personal development.
