We are now seeking to recruit the Injection Moulding Toolmaker to manufacture, assemble, and maintain high-precision mould tools to defined specifications. Using CAD/CAM, EDM, and machining techniques, the role supports the production of quality tooling for plastic injection moulding.
Responsibilities
- Interpret 2D and 3D CAD designs to produce accurate tooling components
- Assemble and fit mould tools to engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Ensure tools are dimensionally accurate and functionally sound through testing and adjustments
- Operate manual and CNC milling, turning, and grinding machines
- Ensure tight tolerances are maintained throughout the toolmaking process
- Use of Precision Measuring and Inspection Equipment
- Conduct inspections using micrometers, CMMs, gauges, and metrology equipment
- Maintain high-quality standards through rigorous checking and documentation
Qualifications
- Proven experience in injection mould toolmaking
- Strong proficiency with CAD/CAM systems (visi cadcam)
- Skilled in EDM processes including wire and spark erosion is beneficial
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and 3D models
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with mould tool design and function desirable
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in toolmaking/precision engineering
