I'm currently supporting a fast-paced, highly automated FMCG manufacturing site in the Wrexham area with an urgent requirement for a Production Planner / Scheduler to join on a temporary contract basis, minimum 3 months ongoing. This is a key position within a high-volume process and packaging environment, where accurate planning and agile scheduling are critical to maintaining maximum operational efficiency.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules aligned to customer demand and service levels
- Sequence production across automated processes and packaging lines to optimise efficiency and minimise changeovers
- Manage capacity planning, line utilisation, and bottlenecks within a high-speed manufacturing environment
- Coordinate materials availability, packaging requirements, and production priorities
- Support planning for promotions, seasonal demand, and NPD launches
- Liaise with operations, engineering, supply chain, and procurement teams to ensure plan adherence
- Monitor and adjust schedules in real-time to respond to downtime, supply issues, or demand changes
- Drive continuous improvement across planning accuracy, OTIF, waste reduction, and throughput
What We're Looking For:
- Experience as a Production Planner, Scheduler, Supply Chain Planner, or Inventory Planner
- Background in FMCG, food & drink, or other fast-paced manufacturing environments
- Proven experience planning within automated, high-volume process and packaging operations
- Strong working knowledge of SAP / APO (or similar ERP/MRP systems) and advanced Excel
- Ability to balance short-term scheduling with operational constraints and demand changes
- A proactive individual who can hit the ground running and deliver immediate value
