Job Type: Permanent, newly created role, onsite.

Job Location: Wrexham area, North Wales, commutable from Chester, Mould, Ellesmere, Flint, Whitchurch, etc.

Are you a passionate and people-centric Health, Safety & Environmental Leader? Able to lead and implement a cultural change programme in HSE excellence on a large manufacturing site? You will collaborate with site SLT, business leaders, employees, and external stakeholders to implement effective SHE practices that promote well-being, environmental sustainability, and workplace safety. You are the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in health, safety and environmental management onsite. The site has a clear emphasis on teamwork, capability building, safety, engagement and inclusion.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Visible, onsite, leading the Health, Safety & Environmental function across the site, responsible for implementing H&SE management systems, responsible for the wellbeing of several hundred people on site.
  • An EHS Manager who will lead the development and implementation of the site's Environment, Health & Safety deployment plan to deliver objectives in line with the Group Sustainability and HSE Strategy.
  • Coach and mentor the teams around HSE initiatives.
  • Lead BBS (Behaviour Based Safety) program.
  • Develop and implement an Environmental Management System.
  • Develop an effective EH&S risk management program to ensure compliance.
  • Embedding strong safety systems, standards and behaviours.
  • Leading risk assessments, audits and investigations.
  • Managing and developing two direct reports.
  • Lead the investigation of accidents, Environmental and H&S incidents to identify, implement and maintain corrective actions.
  • Analyse EH&S lagging and leading KPIs to identify improvement.
  • Work with and support management teams, developing and championing annual safety plans, best practice, developing cohesive solutions to operational SHE challenges and champion continuous improvement and positive leadership behaviours.
Experience and qualifications:
  • Safety leadership experience ideally within FMCG or general manufacturing environments.
  • Passionate about people safety, comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and able to influence and engage teams at every level.
  • Be a cultural ambassador by role modelling safety leadership, coaching and developing others to foster and achieve an ‘Excelling' H&S culture.
  • Empower all levels of the workforce, floor to SLT.
  • Visible and approachable.
  • A NEBOSH qualification, Certificate or Diploma, ideally graduate IOSH.
  • Delivering an effective framework for safety program management.
  • Delivering an effective framework of incident investigation, auditing, and training oversight.
  • Manufacturing and factory or warehousing site experience strongly preferred; FMCG, Packaging, Food and Drink is ideal.
  • Diploma in Environmental Management is desirable.
