Join the team behind Predecessor, a fast-paced third-person MOBA now available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. At Omeda Studios, we believe in building games with our community, not just for them. We’ve grown from a passionate group of players into a remote-first team of 70+ developers, backed by $20m in Series A funding. Today, we’re focused on continuously improving Predecessor as a live service title designed to be played for years to come.

We\’re looking for a skilled and creative Level Designer to help shape Predecessor\’s maps. You\’ll take ownership of level design from greybox to final polish, crafting interesting spaces that elevate the core gameplay experience and keep players coming back for more.

Ideal candidates bring a wealth of knowledge on Third Person Level Design, Team-Based PvP games and MOBAs, and are highly proficient with Unreal Engine. Familiarity with Environment Art and Lighting Pipelines are highly beneficial.

In This Role You Will

  • Prototype, iterate, and enhance our map design.
  • Build levels that support and enhance Predecessor\’s variety of playstyles, emphasizing dynamic combat, engaging traversal, and player agency.
  • Work with the Game Design team to ensure that MOBA fundamentals (e.g. sight lines, warding, traversal times) are supported and enhanced throughout.
  • Collaborate with environment artists to ensure that your level geometry, collision, and readability remains uncompromised.
  • Own the full lifecycle of the level design process—from blockout to final layout and polish.
  • Understand how to arrange and style your work to obtain maximum effect from playtests, then organise, run, and analyse playtests, iterating on the feedback with the support of the Game Design team.
  • Support the map\’s visual development, finding ways to ensure that environment artists and lighting artists can work efficiently and support the goals of the level\’s design.

What We\’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience designing multiplayer levels, with at least one shipped PvP title with comparable challenges.
  • Strong proficiency with Unreal Engine, including level editing, blueprints (basic), and terrain tools and materials.
  • Deep understanding of PvP game design fundamentals and MOBAs, including flow, balance, player reads, vision, and readability.
  • Solid grasp of environment art principles such as composition, lighting, modularity, and industry-standard workflows.
  • Experience designing for third-person perspectives, with awareness of camera usability, sightlines, and movement space.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating level design process and thinking.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on MOBAs, hero shooters, or class-based PvP games.
  • Technical design or scripting experience (Blueprints, level logic, basic AI triggers).
  • An eye for environment art and lighting with the technical knowledge to draft desired visuals in-game.
  • Understanding of live game workflows and iterative content pipelines.
  • Passion for competitive games or esports communities.

This is a freelance contract role that is currently scoped with a 6-month horizon. It is a fully remote position and is contracted for 40 hours per week (including a 1-hour lunch break), Monday to Friday.

If this sounds interesting, we\’d love to hear from you!
