The Senior Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for a combination of traditional and cutting-edge broadcast technologies, tailored to ensure the reliable delivery of live content to the highest standard. This role requires excellence in both operational and support roles, and involves close collaboration with systems engineers, production and operations teams to ensure consistent operational excellence across all our event and broadcast technology. You will supervise mission‑critical systems to support high‑profile live broadcasts. You’ll be required to make quick technical decisions, implement innovative solutions to complex challenges, and take ownership of systems that directly impact Apple's content delivery. Thriving under pressure, you are confident owning your decisions and able to drive complex productions. The role requires flexible working hours – sometimes working evenings, weekends and/or overnight to support event production and broadcast.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second line support of broadcast systems for technical operators and production teams.
  • Assume operational roles directly. For larger and more complex productions you will also provide technical supervision to external crews.
  • Support the configuration, operation and training for a wide range of equipment, including system cameras, robotics, production switchers, control systems, intercoms, and production audio consoles.
  • Advise in technical co‑ordination with production partners, including integration of incoming systems.
  • Track and resolve technical issues using internal tools and reporting systems.
  • Assume a proactive approach to ensure all technical documentation remains reliable and accurate.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to guarantee reliable technical infrastructure, co‑ordinating preventative equipment maintenance and upgrades as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Senior Broadcast or Systems Engineer, Broadcast Guarantee (EIC), or equivalent.
  • Experience in a senior‑level role driving a modern and high‑demand live production environment to industry leading standards.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to distill technical details for a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong technical expertise supporting broadcast and event systems, including: Cameras, vision mixers, multi‑viewers, media routers, intercom, and production audio consoles.
  • Detailed knowledge of replay systems, graphics engines and video processors.
  • Extensive experience with IP‑based broadcast networks, software‑defined networking architectures.
  • Expert knowledge of SMPTE 2110 broadcast standards as well as deep understanding of baseband formats.
  • Proficient configuring and troubleshooting broadcast control systems and automation platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of streaming protocols, content delivery networks, and OTT platform requirements.
  • Demonstrable familiarity working in an A‑list artist facing environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with music, light entertainment or variety broadcast shows is ideal.
  • Familiarity with live event technology, staging and UK rigging safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of lighting principles for studio and stage.
  • A deep familiarity with the Apple ecosystem of services and hardware.
