Thanks to our Omaze Community, we’ve raised over £150 million for UK charities in just five years. That’s millions helping organisations like Age UK, the RSPCA, British Heart Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity deliver life-saving work. And the best part? We’re only just getting started. Omaze is building a business and culture committed to growth and creating significant social impact on a global scale.
About The Job
To provide senior leadership continuity for UK accounting during a maternity-cover of 12 months owning the UK close, statutory reporting, audit delivery and financial controls for a high-growth, complex business. This is a hands-on director role in a lean team that has recently undergone significant transformation (a NetSuite migration, new products, etc), with several major reporting and governance obligations landing during the cover period. The successful candidate will combine strong technical and operational accounting with practical leadership and the ability to keep a fast-moving finance function running smoothly.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Monthly close: own the UK close on a US GAAP basis, plus the UK statutory (IFRS / FRS 101) books, ensuring accurate, timely and standards-compliant reporting.
- Audit: act as primary day-to-day contact for the Omaze UK Ltd and Omaze UK Holdco statutory audits (Deloitte).
- Team & operations: manage the UK accounting team and coordinate the outsourced accounts payable team, overseeing accounts payable (ApprovalMax) and day-to-day banking and treasury operations (Barclays, JPM).
- Technical accounting: oversee complex, recurring areas including prize-draw revenue recognition, charity liabilities (five-year, present-value-discounted payout schedules), winner payout schedules (twelve-month standing orders), lease accounting, and intercompany loans and cost push-downs across the group.
- Tax & compliance: support VAT, corporation tax, and other HMRC filings (PSA, ERS) in coordination with external advisers (KPMG).
- Controls & process: maintain and strengthen financial controls and standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation as part of the broader controls-framework initiative.
- Group collaboration: partner with the German, and Global Accounting Directors and the Chief Accounting Officer on group matters.
What Success will look like
A well-run UK close and a clean, on-time statutory audit; accurate handling of the group's more complex recurring accounting; a supported, well-managed team; and controls and documentation left in as strong or stronger a position at the end of the cover period. Above all, seamless continuity so that UK accounting continues to operate to a high standard throughout.
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
- Significant post-qualification experience, including a senior or director-level accounting role.
- Strong technical accounting under IFRS; US GAAP experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency group, with comfort across consolidation and intercompany accounting.
- Team leadership combined with the willingness to operate hands-on in a lean, fast-moving accounting function.
- NetSuite experience preferred; a strong systems and controls orientation.
What makes you stand out
- Experience in a high-growth, private-equity or venture-backed, or pre-IPO business.
- Exposure to VAT-complex or regulated consumer businesses.
What’s In It For You
- Generous stock options scheme.
- 25 days annual leave PLUS Bank Holidays.
- Private medical and dental insurance.
- 9% employer pension contributions, when you contribute at least 2%.
- A generous personal learning and development budget each year to use on training courses, conferences and professional memberships.
- Enhanced family leave policies.
- Life assurance of 4x your salary.
