Overview

Apple’s CAD Hardware team is responsible for automating processes in designing Apple’s chips that power devices such as Apple Watch, Apple TV, i Phone, and i Pad.

The PNR‑CAD team develops utilities that enable efficient work environments for physical design teams worldwide.

Description

As a PNR‑CAD team member, you will work on a wide range of activities in physical design, from infrastructure automation to developing PNR flows for floor‑planning, clocking, optimization, route utilities, power grid creation, and sign‑off flows.

You will collaborate with teams across Timing, Power Delivery, Synthesis, Physical Verification, vendors, and other CAD team members globally.

Responsibilities

  • Explore new technologies and methodologies for cutting‑edge designs.
  • Implement complex designs from small to large scales.
  • Develop automation for design efficiency and sign‑off flows.
  • Work closely with cross‑disciplinary teams to improve PD flow productivity.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in ASIC P&R and flow development
  • Experience with all aspects of ASIC physical design including floorplanning, power‑distribution, multi‑voltage design, placement, CTS, and routing.
  • Strong TCL/Python scripting skills and LLM/Gen AI implementation methods; experience developing complex algorithms, managing and regressing P&R flows.
  • Familiarity with design signoff issues.
