Shell Southern North Sea is a collection of three assets in the Southern North Sea comprising of two manned production platforms and a gas processing plant at Bacton. This role is for the onshore gas plant located at Bacton on the Norfolk coast about 25 miles north of Norwich. The assets are described as LEAN assets and follow a similar operating model. The Operations and Maintenance Technician is a key member of the production team with influence across a wide range of work execution on site. The successful candidate should be a great communicator, capable of quickly transitioning between topics and time frames, and must make highly effective decisions to optimise the plant and ensure maintenance work complies with integrated activity plans.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Demonstrate excellent safety leadership and behaviours, ensuring Shell’s HSSE expectations are communicated, maintained, and implemented.
  • Make on spot decisions regarding conflicting activities and plant control to prevent any unsafe acts.
  • Serve as a competent isolation owner and permit holder in Permit to Work (preferably P Vision).
  • Actively participate in audits as required and in near miss reporting.
  • Organise the safe preparation of equipment in accordance with the Work Instructions.
  • Self manage own competency and complete emergency response training and managing major emergencies training.
  • Strongly understand and enforce the work instructions when executing day to day activities.
  • Review operating procedures, record changes, and follow due process to facilitate updates.
  • Support turnaround shutdown readiness, execution, and statement of fitness processes.
  • Be knowledgeable in the Asset Management System and its role, specifically the Ensure Safe Production Process.
  • Understand COMAH site regulations and their interaction with site delivery.
  • Drive the progression and sustainment of key operations qualifications and competencies.

What you bring:

  • Frontline Operations and Maintenance or Production experience.
  • Control room operations experience (preferred).
  • Ability to prepare, isolate, and reinstate equipment following Work Instructions.
  • Experience working within a Permit to Work system and applying SIRP within the safe isolation process.
  • Aware of Work Instructions, POPM's, SECE, and Performance Standards.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to problem solve and bring ideas to completion.
  • Self motivated with strong communication skills and technical judgement.
  • Flexibility to adapt to change in a highly motivated and empowered environment.
  • Education to HNC Standard or equivalent in process or technical qualification (desirable).
  • Trade background or Process qualification NVQ3 or equivalent (beneficial).
  • Capability to carry out planned, preventive, remedial, and breakdown maintenance as directed by a Line Supervisor.
  • Willingness to work a 7 on 7 off 7 on 14 off rotational schedule in 12 hour day shifts.
