Be part of delivering fundamental change for Shell’s upstream business in the UK. Shell entered a 50:50 equity Incorporated Joint Venture (IJV) with Equinor, which is now the largest oil and gas company in the UK. The principal focus of Shell UK Upstream will be governance of our interest in the IJV (Adura), management of the decommissioned asset liability portfolio, which will remain with Shell along with management of the onshore gas processing asset (SEGAL) which will remain with Shell. In addition to the above, from 1st April 2026, Shell UK Upstream will also be responsible for managing the One Gas West Asset which will transition from the NAM (Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij) to Shell UK Upstream.
As the Decommissioning & Restoration (D&R) Manager you will be responsible for D&R planning and execution of One Gas West Assets, the decommissioned asset liability portfolio, ensuring safe, cost-effective management of delivery of Shell's obligations as operator/duty holder for a portfolio of pre & post Cessation of Production (CoP) assets and for the operating Howe field.
What you’ll be doing
- Reporting to the Shell UK VP Upstream, the D&R Manager will be responsible for a small technical and commercial team.
- Operator and Duty holder for Howe and post CoP Assets including Brent, with responsibility for Decommissioning Programme approvals and submission of subsequent progress and close-out.
- Accountable for operated post CoP asset governance and cadence, including decision making and non-technical risk management.
- Accountable for One Gas West Asset D&R planning and execution which includes 190 wells, 19 Unmanned Installations, and 2 multi-jacket manned platforms (Leman Alpha & Clipper).
- Accountable for management of the UK portfolio of retained liabilities including Southern North Sea (SNS) liabilities. This includes the annual business planning cycle and the D&R estimating/assurance processes for all remaining Shell UK assets that serve to underpin the UK year-end provision process/sign-off.
- Responsible for partner relationships and regulatory stewardship & compliance.
- Contract holder for the decommissioning services agreement covering decommissioning activities delivered by Adura for Shell post CoP assets.
- Responsibility for Decommissioning Technology Projects and relationship focal point for industry bodies including OEUK, NZTC, NDC, DNS and INSITE.
- Interface with central global decommissioning and restoration function.
- Potential to serve as Duty Emergency Incident Manager (EIM) for Shell UK Upstream.

- Track record of delivering value and managing risk in dynamic environments. Willing to lead, integrate and problem solve across the breadth of technical & non-technical functions to deliver for the business.
- Excellent communication, governance, and influencing skills.
- Understanding of UK regulatory and stakeholder landscape an advantage.
- Preference is for a candidate with a broad skillset, with experience in project delivery, non-technical risk management and operations.
- Experience of working in the UK regulatory environment.
