Role Description

Instrumental Tutors will deliver one-to-one and small group lessons in instruments such as piano, drums, guitar, singing, and other disciplines, following Omagh Music Academy guidelines and best practices.

Day-to-day responsibilities include planning engaging lesson content, assessing student abilities, setting learning goals, and tracking progress over time.

The tutor will prepare students for performances, exams, and personal milestones, provide constructive feedback, and communicate regularly with learners and their parents or caregivers.

This is a contract role and is fully on-site at Omagh Music Academy in Omagh, requiring reliable attendance, collaboration with other tutors, and participation in Omagh Music Academy events where needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical proficiency in at least one instrument or voice (e. g., piano, drums, guitar, singing) and ability to demonstrate techniques clearly.
  • Experience in music teaching, coaching, or mentoring, with skills in lesson planning, curriculum development, and student assessment.
  • Sound knowledge of music theory, notation, and relevant styles or genres appropriate to the instruments taught.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work inclusively with learners of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
  • Organisational skills for managing schedules, maintaining lesson records, and coordinating with Omagh Music Academy staff and families.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude toward collaborative working in an on-site teaching environment.
  • Relevant music qualifications, performance experience, or teaching certifications are preferred but not essential
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required background checks or clearances for working with children and young people.
