Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: ÂŁ70,000 - ÂŁ80,000
About the Opportunity
This is a standout role for a driven, detail‑obsessed Financial Controller who wants to play a pivotal part in the next phase of a fast‑growing, privately owned business. If you’re energised by pace, autonomy, and the chance to shape a finance function that truly partners the wider organisation, this is your moment.
The Role
As Financial Controller, you’ll take full ownership of day‑to‑day finance operations while leading and developing a capable finance team. You’ll ensure accuracy, rigour, and compliance across all financial processes—but you’ll also go far beyond the numbers.
You’ll be the person who can tell the story behind the data: translating financial insight into clear, actionable narratives that support decision‑making across the business. You’ll work closely with non‑finance stakeholders, helping them understand performance, risks, and opportunities in a way that drives commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to deliver high‑quality outputs.
- Oversee all day‑to‑day finance operations, including month‑end, reporting, cashflow, and controls.
- Produce accurate and timely management accounts with insightful commentary.
- Partner with non‑finance leaders to support strategic and operational decision‑making.
- Strengthen financial processes, systems, and controls as the business scales.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term planning cycles.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and audit requirements.
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Exceptional attention to detail with a natural ability to interpret and communicate financial data.
- Previous experience in a fast‑paced, privately owned business—ideally one that has scaled or is scaling.
- Previous experience in working with non‑finance stakeholders, building trust and influencing decisions.
- Hands‑on, proactive, and comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a dynamic environment.
- Strong leadership skills with a passion for developing people and improving processes.
Benefits
Why Join?
- Be part of a business with real momentum and ambition.
- Work closely with senior leadership and make a visible impact.
- Shape the finance function as the company continues to grow.
- Enjoy autonomy, variety, and the chance to build something meaningful.
