Working within the Engineering team within the Manufacturing organisation, developing a wide range of Olympus products and supporting in serial production.
This position provides the engineering competence to support the product life cycle (including NPD, design transfer, sustaining and discontinuation) of Olympus products where Southend is the domain owner.
Provide manufacturing engineering expertise & knowledge in support of the Manufacturing organisation goals.

- Your responsibilities
The project environment requires early design participation in order to support Design for Manufacture and Regulatory Compliance.
This is achieved by delivering work packages aligned with Olympus Design Control, Risk Management and Process Validation framework which is tailored to the demands of FDA and MDR regulations.
This position will involve undertaking the introduction of new products / processes / projects / engineering change into manufacturing.
Working closely with Design Engineers, QA, Production and Supply Chain, you will be expected to take responsibility for completion of design transfer to achieve the requirements for each project in compliance with regulations and relevant procedures.
- Shall implement and work to all applicable regulatory and quality requirements as stipulated within the Key Med Quality Manual, Quality Policy, and Quality Objectives.
- Shall implement and work to all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental requirements as stipulated within the HSE Manual, HSE Policies, and HSE Objectives.
- Supply advice & direction to stakeholders regarding high SQCD manufacturing process requirements
- Design, planning and commissioning production line layouts/cells/equipment to achieve high SQCD
- Transfer and set up of manufacturing data, including all manufacturing documentation
- Provide ongoing support to maintain and improve production SQCD, including preparation and implementation of Engineering Changes
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge relevant manufacturing processes (injection moulding, sheet metal)
- Lead / Participate in Development Projects, Continuous Improvement activities, Training, Quality investigations, Audits and supplier selection.
- Will undertake any assignment or duty as required by business needs
- Degree (Desirable) or HND or HNC in an engineering discipline (Essential)
- 2+ years working in an engineering or manufacturing environment (Desirable)
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques & QCD targets
- Familiarity with relevant design software tools
- Knowledge of SAP
- Ability to Interpret Engineering Drawings
- Computer & IT literacy, familiarity with Office software tools
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Project Management knowledge
- Good problem solving & analytical skills
- Methodical & good attention to detail
- The role requires you to be on your feet for extended periods of time during your general day to day activities, which could include walking between sites.
- Travel could be required to visit subsidiary companies and suppliers.
