Patchway Community School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Case Worker to join our pastoral team. This vital role focuses on supporting students experiencing Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and improving attendance among vulnerable learners. You will work closely with students, families, and external agencies to remove barriers to education, ensuring every student feels supported, engaged, and able to succeed in school life.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a case worker for students with persistent or severe absence, particularly those affected by EBSA.
- Build strong relationships with families through effective home-school liaison, including home visits.
- Plan, implement, and monitor targeted interventions to improve student attendance and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, SEND, safeguarding leads, and external agencies to support students holistically.
- Analyse attendance and pastoral data to identify trends and inform action plans.
- Coordinate reintegration plans for students returning to school following long-term absence.
- Lead meetings, complete referrals, and contribute to support plans (e.g. EHAPs, ILSPs).
- Support students’ academic and personal development, ensuring access to appropriate learning resources.
About You
- Experienced in working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- A strong communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and professionals.
- Resilient, calm under pressure, and confident working with challenging situations.
- Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable students and promoting inclusion.
