As Designate Manager, you will develop towards taking responsibility for the overall performance of a profit centre, learning how to manage and grow the business while being given considerable freedom to make commercial decisions. Responsibilities will include: * Driving sales and identifying opportunities for growth * Developing existing and new customer relationships * Managing and motivating a commercial team * Stock management and product range decisions * Negotiating purchasing and cost prices * Managing margins and profitability * Controlling costs and budgets * Understanding and managing P&L performance * Developing supplier relationships * Recruiting and developing people The business operates a highly decentralised model. Managers are trusted to understand their customers, local market and team and are given the autonomy to run their profit centre in their own way. Who Are We Looking For? There are two main backgrounds that could suit this opportunity. You may already work within electrical wholesale in a position such as: * Senior Internal Sales * Assistant Manager * Sales / Account Manager * External Sales * Business Development Manager You may have strong industry knowledge, commercial awareness and customer relationships but now want the opportunity to progress into full business management. Alternatively, you may already be a Branch Manager, Business Manager, Profit Centre Manager or Sales Manager within another trade-focused wholesale or distribution environment. Relevant sectors could include building materials, plumbing and heating, HVAC, industrial supplies, construction products or similar B2B distribution businesses selling to trade customers. For an experienced manager, this offers the opportunity to move into a business where you can have genuine responsibility for sales, stock, purchasing, people, costs and profitability, rather than simply following decisions made centrally.
