Are you an ambitious graduate or early-career sales professional looking to build a long-term career in business development? This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful specialist distributor operating within the HVAC, building controls and automation sector. You’ll receive structured training on both the business and its products before progressing into a field-based Business Development role, managing your own customer portfolio and winning new business across the North East.

The Role

Your first few months will be spent working alongside an experienced internal team, developing a thorough understanding of the products, customers and industry. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you’ll transition into a field-based Business Development role where you’ll be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing customer relationships and growing existing accounts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Learning the company’s products, systems and customer base
  • Supporting the internal sales team during your training period
  • Building relationships with existing customers
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities
  • Visiting customers across your territory
  • Preparing quotations and following opportunities through to order
  • Working closely with suppliers and technical colleagues
  • Managing and growing your own customer portfolio

You’ll typically spend around six months learning the business before moving into a predominantly external sales role.

About You

We’re looking for someone with ambition, enthusiasm and the desire to build a long-term sales career. You’ll ideally have:

  • Educated to degree level and have some previous sales experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence speaking with customers face-to-face and over the phone
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach
  • Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in business development
  • A full UK driving licence

Above all, we’re looking for someone who enjoys building relationships and is motivated by developing new business.
