About the role — DFYNE Your Career

Before I tell you more about the role, let me introduce myself.

I’m Bruce, Head of Development at DFYNE, and I’m looking for our first dedicated Senior Data Engineer.

This role will own the DFYNE data warehouse, helping ensure the data that powers finance reporting, forecasting, inventory management and operational decision-making remains accurate, reliable and available.

You’ll take ownership of Big Query pipelines, transformation layers, exports and integrations while working closely with teams across the business.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll help define data engineering standards, improve data reliability and build the foundation of DFYNE’s future data capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the performance, reliability, security and ongoing development of DFYNE’s Big Query data warehouse and associated data pipelines.
  • Design, build and maintain scalable ingestion and transformation processes.
  • Implement data quality monitoring, validation and automated alerting.
  • Define data contracts with business stakeholders and system owners.
  • Improve reliability, accuracy and freshness of business-critical data.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of data incidents, ensuring root causes are identified and permanently addressed.
  • Support ERP, finance, forecasting and operational reporting requirements.
  • Build and maintain integrations for fulfilment and logistics platforms.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues and pipeline failures.
  • Contribute to data architecture, governance and engineering standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Operations and Engineering teams.
  • Support reporting, analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement across DFYNE’s data platform.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of commercial Data Engineering experience.
  • Expert SQL skills and strong Python development experience.
  • Hands-on Big Query experience or equivalent cloud data warehouse technologies.
  • Experience with dbt, Dataform or similar transformation frameworks.
  • Experience building and operating production data pipelines.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, testing and alerting for data systems.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, governance and reliability.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting finance, ERP or operational reporting environments.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.

Nice to Have

  • Google Cloud Platform certifications.
  • Logistics, fulfilment or e-commerce experience.
  • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
  • Experience with modern analytics and reporting tools.
  • Experience scaling data platforms in high-growth businesses.
