About the role - DFYNE Your Career

I’m Bruce, Head of Development at DFYNE, and I’m looking for someone who will become the most senior individual contributor within our engineering team.
As our Staff Software Engineer, you will partner closely with me to shape architecture, engineering standards and technical direction while remaining hands‑on in the design, delivery and operation of critical systems.
DFYNE has grown rapidly, and we now need a senior technical leader who can help us scale our engineering capability, improve software quality and strengthen operational excellence.
You’ll influence how we build software across the business, mentor engineers, lead through expertise rather than hierarchy and help ensure our technology can support the next phase of DFYNE’s growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and expert guidance across DFYNE’s engineering teams.
- Support the Head of Development in establishing and maintaining engineering standards,
- Drive mandatory code review, release discipline and deployment quality controls.
- Lead technical problem-solving across critical business systems.
- Own and influence architecture and technical design decisions across multiple platforms
- Lead incident response activity, ensure corrective actions address root causes over individual failures.
- Pair with engineers across critical systems to reduce single points of failure.
- Mentor and develop engineers in progressing towards senior‑level responsibilities.
- Partner with Product, Operations and Engineering teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.
- Identify and address technical debt, operational risk and scalability constraints before they impact business performance.
- Contribute hands‑on code where required.
- Champion engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Experience owning and operating production distributed systems end‑to‑end.
- Strong Type Script or Python expertise.
- Deep Google Cloud Platform experience, or equivalent cloud platform knowledge.
- Proven track record of designing, building and operating large‑scale systems.
- Improving engineering standards, quality processes or software delivery practices.
- Experience leading incident response and writing post‑incident reviews.
- Excellent system design and architecture capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven mentoring and technical leadership experience.
- Experience influencing technical decisions across multiple teams or business functions.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on engineering delivery.
- Nice to Have
- E‑commerce, logistics or payments experience.
- Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise.
- Experience with observability tooling such as Open Telemetry.
- Experience introducing AI‑assisted development workflows safely.
