Olo is a leading SaaS platform accelerating digital transformation in the restaurant industry, by helping customers deliver more personalised and profitable guest experiences. Our Platform Engineering Group is made up of senior and staff engineers, with teams specialising in Platform Infrastructure, DevOps, Software Infrastructure, Database Reliability, and Site Reliability. We own multi‑account governance, CI/CD and GitOps standards, the EKS/EC2 lifecycle, and platform‑wide shared tooling and data services. Our mandate is to drive consolidation, automation, compliance, and reliability at scale.
This position is fully remote and allows you to work from anywhere within Northern Ireland.
What You’ll Do
- Lead large, complex infrastructure projects to delivery, including research/proposal, planning and testing phases.
- Own EKS/EC2 lifecycle: provisioning, upgrades, add‑ons (CNI/CSI/Ingress), autoscaling/capacity, reliability, and cost controls.
- Define CI/CD and GitOps standards (TeamCity/Octopus and GitHub Actions + Argo CD or Flux); design .NET container pipelines.
- Standardise IaC with Terraform and use Crossplane where Kubernetes‑managed cloud resources make sense.
- Build and maintain platform tooling, environments, and scripts; enable self‑service patterns for product teams.
- Partner with the other Platform Engineering teams, Security, and the broader Olo ENG Group on incident response, runbooks, and sustainable operational practices.
- Automate security/compliance workflows (patching, evidence capture for SOC 2/PCI, remediation) without slowing delivery.
- Mentor engineers, document and socialise platform standards, and drive adoption across teams.
What We’ll Expect From You
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role with deep AWS experience, strong Kubernetes/EKS operations, Terraform‑first IaC, and CI/CD/GitOps patterns.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective collaborator and mentor, able to engage directly with a range of internal consumers and stakeholders.
- Thrives on autonomy, with strong organisational and project management skills, and a desire to help shape technical strategy.
- Linux proficiency; solid Bash/Python scripting.
- Familiarity with Windows/PowerShell and .NET build/deploy nuances for legacy workloads.
- GitOps and deploy tooling: Argo CD or Flux; GitHub Actions.
- Experience with TeamCity/Octopus is a plus.
- Observability: Prometheus; Datadog or SumoLogic experience is a plus.
- Messaging and data familiarity such as Kafka/MSK and AWS SNS/SQS/Kinesis; exposure to Postgres/MSSQL/MySQL helpful.
- Security/compliance know‑how (SOC 2, PCI) and practical experience implementing compliant change controls and audit support.
We do not expect proficiency in every tool listed above. This is the stack we build on. Be strong in several and able to learn the rest quickly.
