Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Residential Childcare Worker role based in Kegworth.
The Residential Childcare Worker will provide day-to-day care, support, and supervision for young people, helping them with routines such as education, activities, personal care, and household tasks.
The role involves building positive, trusting relationships, implementing care plans, and supporting therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches in partnership with the wider team.
Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, structured environment, managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner, and documenting incidents, progress, and observations in line with regulatory requirements.
The Residential Childcare Worker will liaise with social workers, education providers, and other professionals, participate in team meetings and training, and contribute to the planning of activities and opportunities that promote the emotional, social, and practical development of each young person.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in childcare and working with children, preferably in residential or similar supportive settings.
- Experience in social services and multi-agency working to support young people with diverse needs.
- Ability to plan and facilitate events, activities, and routines that promote engagement, learning, and wellbeing.
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development, including safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and behavior support.
- Relevant qualification in childcare, social care, or youth work (e. g., Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent) or willingness to work towards this.
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and record-keeping skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and regulatory standards (including Ofsted requirements).
- Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required, and to contribute positively to a team environment.
- Competitive base salary of £27,500 pa plus up to £7,000 for sleep-ins
