Job Description
Junior Merchandiser £35-45,000 depending on experience
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving fashion retail business as a Junior Merchandiser. The key purpose of the role is to ensure that sales opportunities and margin are maximised by trading through the effective management and planning of stock, including managing intake, allocations to stores, sales, markdowns and promotional activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysis and report on sales performance of the department taking ownership on decisions of any opportunities or risks to sales and profit.
- Consistent awareness of best and worst sellers and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Conduct regular store visits to obtain direct feedback from staff and customers.
- Take ownership of maintaining all aspects of the departmental WSSI.
- Work closely with the Buying team on OTB status of WSSI and ensuring OTB is filled accordingly.
- Take ownership of flow lines for the department.
- Maintain line details and range plan.
- Work with Branch Merchandising on allocations.
- Knowledge of the departments OTB and stock levels, understanding the implications of being under or over stocked.
- Analyse all historical analysis and lessons learnt for strategy packs.
- Under guidance of the Merchandiser and in conjunction with Buyer, construct a range to deliver key blocks as well as newness and true choice to the customer.
- Continuously review range in line with current trading to maximise profits.
- Review depth and width to maximise availability and minimise markdown risk.
- With guidance of Snr Merchandiser, develop junior members of the team.
- Maintain excellent communication links with colleagues from the Buying and Merchandising departments.
What we’re looking for:
This role will suit someone currently working at Junior Merchandiser level, or an Assistant Merchandiser who is looking for their next step up. Ideally, you’ll have a fashion background, however this is not essential.
You’ll be someone who is analytical and great with numbers, as well as being PC literate, particularly Excel. You’ll thrive working in a fast-paced working environment and be a strong communicator at all levels.
