We are looking for a passionate, hands-on and motivated Plant Centre Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of our busy Plant Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their horticultural career and gain greater responsibility within a growing business. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising daily operations, supporting staff, maintaining high retail standards, and delivering excellent customer service. You will confidently help oversee the smooth running of the Plant Centre and wider site operations.
This is a varied and physically active role that combines horticultural knowledge, retail operations, customer service and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver excellent customer service and expert horticultural advice
- Assist both retail and trade customers with plant and product selections
- Support sales growth through strong product knowledge and customer engagement
- Operate tills and assist with general retail transactions
- Handle customer queries professionally and confidently
- Maintain high standards of plant care, including watering and general plant health
- Ensure excellent housekeeping standards across the Plant Centre
- Coordinate and receive incoming deliveries and goods-in processes
- Use stock management systems to monitor and manage inventory
- Order stock from the Production Nursery and assist with dry goods ordering when required
- Support seasonal changes, merchandising and display creation throughout the Plant Centre
- Ensure stock is well presented, labelled and replenished
- Coordinate daily staff duties and workloads
- Lead by example with a proactive and hands-on approach
- Support, motivate and guide team members
- Assist with training and maintaining high operational standards
- Confidently oversee operations in the absence of the Plant Centre Manager
- Assist with general site and farming duties, including caring for hens and poultry
- Support wider business operations during busy seasonal periods
- Maintain health and safety standards across the site
- Have good plant identification skills.
- Hold Horticultural qualifications to Level 2 or above.
- Be able to operate in a busy environment and complete tasks in a timely manner to a high standard.
- Be physically fit and able to bend, lift push and pull trollies around the Plant Centre.
- Work inside and out in varied weather conditions.
- Be highly motivated and able to work in a team and on your own.
- Have excellent communication and numeracy skills.
