As Email Marketing Manager, you'll be embedded directly within the client's Growth Marketing & Platform Innovation team, working as a day-to-day member of their UK retail banking division. You'll manage the full lifecycle of email communications across established customer programmes — ensuring every campaign is delivered on time, on budget, on brand, and in full compliance with regulatory and governance requirements. You'll manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously, collaborate with creative and production agencies, and use performance data to drive continuous improvement across everything you deliver.
This role suits someone with a track record of delivering high-quality direct and digital marketing in a medium-to-large corporate environment — financial services experience is a strong advantage, but not essential if you bring equivalent governance and stakeholder management experience from another regulated sector.
What you will be doing:
- Develop, manage, and deliver customer email communications and programmes on time and to budget — across acquisition and retention objectives for products including mortgages and loans.
- Ensure all communications are strategically sound, commercially focused, on-brand, customer‑centric, and fully compliant with regulatory requirements and relevant governance frameworks.
- Apply rigorous quality assurance to all output — maintaining consistently high accuracy standards across every piece of communication before it reaches the customer.
- Manage and coordinate all stakeholders throughout the campaign delivery process — maintaining clear communication on status, priorities, and decisions at every stage.
- Work collaboratively with creative and production agencies to ensure campaign output reflects industry best practice and puts the customer first.
- Review campaign and programme performance, report on results using dashboards and reporting tools, and capture learnings to implement across future activity.
- Create and manage test‑and‑learn programmes — designing structured experiments that generate actionable insights and drive measurable business outcomes.
- Navigate complex, regulated organisational environments effectively — following processes that mitigate risk and ensure compliance across all deliverables.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with multiple business stakeholders, managing competing priorities and demand without losing delivery quality or momentum.
What you need to be great in this role:
- Solid experience developing and delivering customer email communications and direct marketing programmes in a medium-to-large corporate environment.
- A track record of delivering to high accuracy standards in regulated or compliance-heavy environments — with governance and risk management as a baseline, not an afterthought.
- Proven stakeholder management skills — able to coordinate multiple business stakeholders across a complex organisation while keeping delivery on track.
- Strong analytical capability: comfortable using dashboards and reporting tools to measure engagement and commercial KPIs, and translating data into clear recommendations.
- Experience designing and managing test‑and‑learn programmes with clear hypotheses, structured measurement, and documented learnings.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Clear, precise written and verbal communication — across briefs, stakeholder updates, campaign documentation, and performance reports.
- Experience in financial services or another regulated industry is an advantage; experience navigating the internal workings of large corporate organisations is essential.
- Experience managing campaign delivery to budget — including tracking spend, supporting financial administration, and flagging cost implications to stakeholders as needed.
- Advanced use of Gen AI tools to enhance email marketing output and efficiency — including brief writing, content drafting, performance analysis, and campaign documentation.
- Experience designing AI‑assisted workflows for campaign planning, reporting, and QA processes.
- Ability to evaluate and apply AI tools within a regulated environment — with strong human oversight applied to all customer‑facing and compliance-sensitive outputs.
- Agentic thinking for complex, multi‑stakeholder campaign challenges — systematic approach to planning, risk identification, and iterative improvement.
- Ability to train others on effective AI tool usage within an email marketing and direct marketing context.
- Formal qualifications are welcome but not required. Equivalent experience counts — gained through work, study, volunteering, or self‑directed learning.
