Role Overview
Responsible for supplier quality management and development within the China supply chain (with a focus on Wenzhou), ensuring that key machined valve components meet technical requirements, maintain consistent quality, and are delivered on time. This role requires frequent on-site engagement with suppliers to drive process optimisation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit and work on-site with suppliers to assess the stability and control of manufacturing processes
- Oversee machining, forging, and welding processes to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications
- Conduct product inspections and witness key quality activities (e.g., First Article Inspection, material testing)
- Analyse quality issues and drive corrective and preventive actions with suppliers
- Support suppliers in improving manufacturing processes, increasing capability, and reducing defect rates
- Perform supplier quality audits and continuously monitor supplier performance
- Collect and analyse quality data, and provide regular reports to Quality and Purchasing teams
- Support supply chain activities related to delivery and inspection requirements
Candidate Requirements
- Background in mechanical, manufacturing, or a related discipline (diploma or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years’ experience in machining or precision manufacturing
- Strong understanding of machining processes with hands-on problem-solving ability
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Familiarity with forging, heat treatment, and non-destructive testing (UT, PT, MT)
- Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
- Proficient in the use of inspection tools (callipers, micrometres, height gauges, etc.) and measurement equipment
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with experience working with suppliers
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English (written and spoken)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with valve components or similar sector
- Familiarity with CMM, FARO, or similar inspection equipment
- Experience in supplier development or quality improvement projects
Additional Information
Based in Wenzhou, with travel across East China (e.g. Suzhou, Shanghai, Zhejiang). Employment will be arranged through a compliant third-party employment partner in China.
