Production BOM Engineer
Are you an engineering professional with an eye for detail and experience turning technical requirements into accurate manufacturing information?
We are looking for a Production Bill of Materials (BOM) Engineer to support the delivery of subsea valve solutions, from initial customer enquiry through to manufacture.
Working closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Production, Planning, Purchasing and Quality, you will review customer specifications, prepare suitable valve solutions and ensure production teams have clear, accurate information.
About Us
We are a family-owned global company that produces ultra critical valves for the world’s oil, gas and hydrogen industries, where exceptional quality and on time delivery is critical.
With operations spanning the UK, USA, Dubai, Malaysia and India, and a world‑class Research & Development centre in Knutsford, we have ambitious plans to grow beyond our £100m turnover.
Our business model is to sub‑contract our components, then assemble at our facilities in Knutsford and Chennai. Our culture is agile, entrepreneurial and decisive. There are no layers of bureaucracy, endless committees or slow‑moving approval processes. We value common sense, accountability and action.
What you’ll be doing
- Creating, releasing and maintaining production BOMs within the ERP/MRP system to agreed schedules.
- Translating customer drawings and specifications into practical manufacturing BOMs.
- Preparing and maintaining production drawings, work instructions and technical documentation.
- Investigating and resolving BOM discrepancies affecting production.
- Implementing approved engineering changes, maintaining revision control and assessing the impact on stock and work in progress.
- Providing technical support for sales enquiries and liaising with customers to clarify requirements.
- Performing engineering calculations to support new designs and changes to existing products.
- Maintaining product design files and reviewing and approving colleagues’ work.
- Supporting new product introduction by ensuring BOMs and manufacturing data are complete before production release.
- Identifying opportunities to standardise components and improve working practices while maintaining quality and document control standards.
What we’re looking for
You will take ownership of your work, show initiative and understand how engineering decisions affect colleagues and manufacturing operations. You will be comfortable solving technical problems, communicating clearly and identifying practical improvements.
You should also bring
- An HND or higher qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Engineering experience working with technical products.
- Experience using SolidWorks or another 3D modelling package.
- Practical knowledge of component assembly and assembly techniques.
- Confidence using Microsoft Excel, Word and other PC applications.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- A methodical approach, with strong attention to accuracy and detail.
Experience within mechanical engineering, precision machining, valve manufacturing or a related industry would be advantageous.
