About Us

Oliver Valvetek is a world-renowned manufacturer of high-pressure, high-integrity valves designed for the harshest subsea environments on earth. We don't just build valves; we engineer critical components that operate thousands of feet below the ocean surface.

We are now looking for an ambitious, capable Graduate Design Engineer to join our design team in Dundee. This position is based at our facility in Dundee, but we also welcome applications from candidates local to our Knutsford premises.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Precision Modelling & Drafting: Create detailed 3D models, machining drawings, cross-sections, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Iterative Design: Modify and optimise existing engineering designs as part of our continuous product improvement program.
  • Data Integrity: Populate and maintain parts, assembly Bills of Materials (BOMs), and routings within our company MRP system.
  • Engineering Verification: Utilize standard engineering calculations to rigorously verify and justify your designs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, R&D, and Manufacturing to ensure custom orders are processed accurately and delivered on time.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Interpret testing results, generate technical reports, and present clear, data-driven recommendations.

What we are looking for

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SolidWorks and exposure to surface-based modelling.
  • Standards: An understanding of API 6A, API 17D, or API 6D is desirable (but we will train you on these!).
  • Soft Skills: High attention to detail, a creative approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work independently within a team.

What’s On Offer?

  • Graduate starting salary of £28,000 pa + discretionary annual bonus
  • Company pension scheme and a holiday allowance that increases with tenure
  • Comprehensive Medical Cash Plan (Dental, Physio, etc.)
  • Professional development from structured mentorship and the chance to see your designs move from the screen to the ocean floor.
