As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be instrumental from concept through to production, seeing the real-world impact of your work on the roads. This role is perfect for an experienced project or design engineer ready to embrace additional responsibilities and significantly contribute to projects' success and the company's growth.
Your responsibilities as a Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Lead and actively participate in design engineering projects, choosing the best strategies to meet technical, cost, weight, and quality goals.
- Conduct DFMEA and Design for Manufacture activities, ensuring designs are optimised for production.
- Oversee design validation processes and utilise CAE tools for an analysis-led design approach.
- Develop and refine 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings, ensuring high standards across the team.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, and Shipping departments to fulfil all technical and delivery requirements.
- Proactively manage project delivery, risk management, and issue resolution to maintain project momentum.
- Engage in technical discussions with suppliers, supporting the Purchasing department.
- Maintain excellent communication with all stakeholders, including regular progress reporting to customers.
Your current experience which will help you as a Mechanical Design Engineer:
- A degree in Engineering or equivalent engineering knowledge.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in automotive design and development, with a strong foundation in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
- Dynamic and assertive, with excellent engineering, organisational, and communication skills.
- Experience in a project engineering role and familiarity with automotive suppliers or engineering service providers is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of project processes, including risk management and problem-solving.
