Oliver Smith Recruitment are working in partnership with our key client in Glasgow to appoint an experienced Payroll Assistant on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2 years’ bureau experience who thrives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment and enjoys delivering a high‑quality service to a varied client base. You will support a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery across multiple pay frequencies.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing high‑volume payroll data and maintaining accurate records
- Calculating net pay, statutory payments and deductions
- Managing FPS/EPS submissions and liaising with HMRC
- Preparing BACS files and notifying clients of PAYE liabilities
- Supporting month‑end and year‑end reporting, including P45/P46
- Handling pension uploads, auto‑enrolment tasks and provider liaison
- Monitoring HMRC downloads (tax codes, student loans, opt‑outs)
- Maintaining confidentiality and compliance at all times
