An excellent opportunity has become available for a Certification Engineer to join an established and growing engineering business based near Walsall specialising in the manufacture and supply of precision fasteners.

This is a key role within the business, where you'll be responsible for ensuring all certification, traceability and technical documentation is accurate, complete and meets both customer and industry requirements.

We're looking for an experienced certification professional who has a strong understanding of material grades and heat treatment processes, along with proven experience creating certificates and compiling detailed certification packs that provide full traceability of a component throughout its entire manufacturing journey.

The Role

  • Managing certification and documentation throughout the manufacturing and despatch process.
  • Creating and assembling comprehensive certification packs for finished products.
  • Preparing detailed API certification documentation.
  • Reviewing certification documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Certifying material grades and heat treatment processes.
  • Building documentation packs to validate the manufacturing process and traceability of parts from beginning to end.
  • Liaising directly with suppliers to obtain and clarify certification information.
  • Communicating with customers regarding certification requirements and technical documentation.
  • Ensuring customer requirements are fully understood and accurately reflected within certification packs.
  • Maintaining and updating libraries of relevant industry standards.
  • Ensuring current standards are readily available and accessible.
  • Scanning and archiving approved supplier certifications.
  • Managing scanned certification packs to ensure documents can be accessed quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintaining the daily despatch list.
  • Working closely with the Despatch Department to prioritise workload and ensure documentation is completed in line with customer requirements.
  • Supporting the wider business with certification and traceability queries.

About You

This is a specialist position, so previous experience within certification, quality documentation or the fastener/engineering industry is required. Most importantly, you must have experience with:

  • Certifying grades of materials.
  • Certifying heat treatment processes.
  • Creating certificates and certification documentation.
  • Building comprehensive documentation packs.
  • Demonstrating full traceability of a part through the manufacturing process.
  • Reviewing technical and quality documentation for accuracy.
  • Liaising with suppliers and customers regarding certification requirements.

You will also need:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a highly accurate approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence communicating directly with customers and suppliers.
  • The ability to interpret and understand technical documentation.
