Pay Rates: £35,000 - £40,000

Shift Patterns: Days with an early finish on a Friday

We are working with a fast-growing steel business that is investing in its future by bringing in a new estimator. This is a hands-on role where you will be pricing live projects, supporting sales, and helping drive profitable growth across their structural steel products.

If you like working with technical drawings and seeing your numbers turn into real, finished projects, this is the kind of role that gives you that satisfaction.

What you will be doing:

  • Reviewing tender packs, architectural and structural drawings, and project specifications
  • Building accurate and competitive costings
  • Sourcing and negotiating pricing with suppliers and manufacturers
  • Highlighting risks, missing scope and value-engineering opportunities
  • Working closely with sales, engineering and project management to win and deliver work
  • Supporting bid clarifications and post-tender negotiations
  • Keeping estimating systems, pricing tools and historical data up to date

What they are looking for:

  • 2+ years' experience in estimating within structural steel, or a similar metalwork environment
  • Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
  • Confident Estimator with knowledge of estimation software and Excel
  • A sharp eye for detail and a structured, organised way of working
  • Good communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple tenders at once

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • Experience with steel standards
  • Knowledge of GRP or perforated metal products
  • AutoCAD or digital take-off tools
  • A background in fabrication or manufacturing
  • An understanding of coatings, finishes, transport and installation costs
