Job Title: Design Engineer Location: Walsall Salary: £35,000 – £50,000 (dependent on experience) Shift Patterns: 08:00 – 16:30, Monday to Friday Are you a Design Engineer with experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication? Look no further – we have an excellent opportunity for a talented engineer to join a growing, forward-thinking design team within a well-established fabrication business. This is your chance to work on a wide variety of bespoke and volume-based projects in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Ability to manipulate customer drawings to suit the needs of the production and estimating teams. Lead the design process from initial concept through to final manufacture. Assess customer requirements and provide practical engineering solutions. Consult with the Production Manager to understand shop floor capabilities and constraints. Communicate technical designs and drawings effectively across departments. Create comprehensive 3D models and fully detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks. Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles – adapting customer designs to suit in-house fabrication processes. Support, create, and maintain CNC programs for punch and laser machines using RADAN. Work across both SolidWorks and RADAN platforms to deliver accurate and production-ready data.Essential Requirements Proven experience in a sheet metal fabrication design environment. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and RADAN Deep understanding of fabrication techniques including folding, punching, and welding. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, manufacturing-ready drawings. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
