Oliver James has partnered with a leading global banking organisation to support the delivery of critical infrastructure change. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in data centre and network infrastructure programmes.
This is a 9-month contract opportunity, offering circa £500 per day (inside IR35), based in Sheffield with three days per week onsite. This role sits within a high-visibility technology function delivering large-scale infrastructure initiatives across a complex, regulated environment. It will suit someone who is delivery‑focused, comfortable operating in structured governance frameworks, and able to manage multiple stakeholders across technical and business teams. Immediate start preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of data centre and network infrastructure projects
- Manage project scope, timelines, budget, risks and dependencies
- Coordinate cross‑functional technical teams including network, infrastructure and operations
- Ensure delivery aligns with governance, regulatory and security standards
- Provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders and programme leadership
- Manage third‑party vendors and service providers where applicable
- Drive issue resolution and ensure timely escalation where required
- Proven experience delivering data centre migration, consolidation or transformation projects
- Strong background in network infrastructure projects (LAN/WAN, connectivity, hardware refresh, etc.)
- Demonstrable experience as a Project Manager within large, complex organisations
- Ability to manage technical stakeholders and translate technical detail into business impact
- Strong risk, dependency and financial management capability
- Experience working within structured change and governance frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience within financial services or a regulated environment
- Exposure to large‑scale enterprise infrastructure environments
- Knowledge of ITIL or related operational frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud migration programmes alongside on‑prem data centre estates
- Relevant project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent)
- Experience working with global teams
- Ability to start at short notice
