Senior Engineering Manager / 12 Month FTC – £100,000

We are excited to offer a new opportunity within our clients Solution Engineering team for a Solutions Manager to join a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Reporting directly to the Head of Solution Engineering, you will oversee, optimise, and lead high-performing teams, ensuring successful delivery of business outcomes. You will take responsibility for operational governance and provide support across all strategic capabilities, collaborating on the technical strategy for modern engineering platforms and applications.

The ideal candidate will bring strong software architecture experience from working with complex, distributed systems, alongside the ability to introduce modern engineering practices such as TDD, DevSecOps, and Continuous Delivery to enhance our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the building and development of the solutions teams, ensuring the stability and evolution of the software solutions produced.
  2. Provide well-considered technical recommendations to stakeholders, balancing competing priorities to maximize business value.
  3. Influence long-term solution delivery strategies and contribute to wider CIO goals.
  4. Create and share essential technical knowledge, tools, and resources to support the team’s growth.
  5. Contribute to successful delivery, ensuring correct software decisions are made, reducing risks, removing obstacles, and actively managing dependencies.
  6. Collaborate with architecture teams to provide engineering input into governance and design where needed.
  7. Lead line management, focusing on high performance, talent mix, and career development for team members.
  8. Ensure that vendor skills and resources are aligned with business goals and actively manage vendor performance for success.

What You’ll Bring:

  1. Strong understanding of software delivery, programming languages, and modern architectural patterns.
  2. Proven leadership experience with a focus on strategic planning and decision-making.
  3. Recent back-end coding experience, ideally in .NET and/or Python.
  4. Hands-on experience with best practices in software engineering, including TDD, Continuous Delivery, and DevSecOps.
  5. Extensive delivery experience, applying programmatic principles, leading teams, and managing cross-team dependencies.
  6. Excellent stakeholder management skills, including negotiation and influencing abilities.
  7. Experience in a product-driven environment with a focus on managing backlogs based on business value.
  8. Ability to present complex information concisely and effectively, while managing a demanding workload.
