We are looking for a SEO Manager to join Team OB in our Support Office on a fixed term contract (10-12 months). As the SEO Manager at Oliver Bonas, you will develop and implement strategies to drive organic growth across our Ecommerce websites (UK, IE and US). You will balance strong technical expertise with solid content optimisation knowledge, identifying and applying updates to enhance our search visibility and performance.
Reporting to the Head of SEO & Content within the Ecommerce department, you will lead a small internal team and work with our external Development Agency. At peak times you may need to be flexible and adapt to changes in workload priorities and working hours, providing support to the wider team where required.
Our Support Office is based in Tolworth, near Chessington, only a 30-minute journey from London Waterloo. This role will be office based but will also include travel and overnight stays in the UK and Ireland.
An OB SEO Manager will:
- Perform regular technical SEO audits to identify and address issues related to crawling, indexing, rendering, and ranking.
- Oversee all aspects of technical SEO, including rendering, sitemaps, canonical tags, structured data, hreflang, page speed and core web vitals.
- Provide hands-on application of technical updates within our Magento CMS and website frontend.
- Utilise SEO tools like Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and other platforms to monitor site health and performance metrics.
- Offer recommendations on site architecture, URL structures, and internal linking strategies to improve organic search rankings.
- Lead user testing of new functionality or technical fixes deployed by our developer agency.
- Ensure all website changes and updates adhere to SEO best practices.
- Conduct daily monitoring of keyword position and performance, reacting to negative changes by investigating and applying recommendations directly onsite.
- Monitor and test design/UX changes to ensure they adhere to SEO best practices.
- Prepare comprehensive SEO reports that track performance trends, highlight technical challenges, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct keyword research and competitor monitoring to inform content optimisation strategies.
- Implement content optimisations directly on the website to improve organic visibility.
- Develop and maintain SEO dashboards to track performance against targets.
- Provide technical SEO expertise during website updates, redesigns, migrations, and new feature launches.
- Support the Head of SEO & Content in developing and implementing the overall SEO strategy.
- Collaborate with the development team and agencies to ensure SEO considerations are prioritised in the development roadmap.
- Work with the content team to ensure content is optimised for search engines.
- Stay informed about the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, AI advancements and automation opportunities.
- Lead SEO initiatives during peak trading periods, adapting to changing priorities as needed.
- Manage a small SEO team, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Foster collaboration and thought leadership across other departments.
- Develop team members through regular feedback, coaching, and development opportunities.
- Create an environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
- Represent the SEO team in cross-departmental meetings and initiatives.
