Oliver Bernard are currently seeking a strong Platform Lead / Head of Platform to join a client of ours on a digital transformation orientated project. Existing plans are focused on embracing Cloud Native, removing a lot of bespoke engineering from their environment, optimising processes, and advocating for DevEx / Dev enablement throughout.

The existing Platform team consists of four engineers who work closely with engineering day to day, and are responsible for scaling their practices across Cloud, Containers, and IaC technologies, whilst driving best practices from a broader engineering perspective across Infrastructure.

As the Head of Platform you will be responsible for managing this team, driving platform best practices to better enable product engineering teams, whilst working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

To be considered, the following experience is required:

  • Prior experience in a Head of Platform or Lead Platform role (3-4 years minimum)
  • Strategic mindset, comfortable driving roadmaps and best practices, whilst working closely with cross-functional teams
  • Must come from a hands-on background, comfortable working in a hands-on capacity across GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD & Automation technologies
  • Strong knowledge of Network and Security (with prior work across Security & DevSecOps tooling)
  • Have knowledge on Disaster Recovery (and comfortable owning the reliability of systems)
  • History of line management, career building, and shaping teams long term

This is a hybrid opening, with office visits required just 1 day p/week, and can offer £90-115K (plus benefits) for the right profile.
