Oliver Bernard are partnering with a leading quantitative investment firm to hire a Senior Python Engineer into a team building the technology that enables the wider business to operate at scale.
This isn't a typical product engineering role. You'll be working on the internal platforms, frameworks and services used by engineering and investment teams, with a focus on building robust, scalable systems and improving developer productivity across the organisation.
Expect technically challenging problems, high engineering standards and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a performance-driven environment.
The Role
- Design and build scalable, high-performance applications and backend services using Python.
- Develop internal frameworks, tooling and platforms used across the business.
- Work with distributed systems, complex architectures and large-scale infrastructure.
- Drive code quality through testing, code reviews and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to shape technical solutions and deliver new capabilities.
- Identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues and continuously improve system performance.
- Contribute to automation and the evolution of the team's development practices.
What You'll Bring
- 6+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong Python development skills, with an emphasis on performance, maintainability and code quality.
- A solid understanding of distributed systems and software architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong Linux skills and familiarity with version control.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated workflows.
- A genuine interest in solving complex engineering problems and building reliable systems at scale.
