Java Software Engineer

New Java role – Fully remote (UK) – Trading/Crypto

We have a new Java role for a proprietary trading firm aiming to become part of one of the world’s leading Institutional Market-Makers across Cryptocurrency Exchanges. The founding team have a background in financial markets and sports data.

They are seeking roughly 2+ years experience with Java and any experience in trading or similar type of environments would definitely be beneficial. Looking to hire bright, high ceiling individuals (strong education is pretty essential).

About the company

Our client is a new proprietary trading firm aiming to become part of one of the world’s leading Institutional Market-Makers across Cryptocurrency Exchanges.

With a background in financial markets and sports betting, the founding team are already one of the world’s largest Market Makers across global sports markets and have now expanded into Crypto under this new company.

About the role

As a new business you will work as part of a small team, with an initial focus on integrating additional exchanges to continue to build the trading volume. From there you will have the opportunity to push the company forward, having input in the ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend services using Java
• Deploy code to production daily
• Ensure quality of codebase is maintained and improved and follow best development practices
• Write it, own it – You will be responsible for maintaining the software you write

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Degree in STEM subject or equivalent software development experience
• 2+ years Java programming experience
• Experience with message passing technologies, in particular Aeron, SBE.
• Familiar with event driven design patterns and micro service architecture
• You’ve worked on large scale, distributed systems that operate with large volumes of data.
• An advocate of engineering best practice, you are focused on quality, deployment and in-life support as well as the core engineering

Can be fully remote (UK based) if you wish or they have offices in London or Leeds if you prefer to go in.

Roughly looking at a salary range of between £50-70k base but can be flexible here and go higher if needed for the right candidate. Discretionary bonus also offered.
