The Opportunity
This role sits within the Mobile Platform team, which is responsible for the technical foundations of the app—covering architecture, shared capabilities, infrastructure, and developer tools. As a thought leader in native development, this team is crucial to improving performance, refining UX, and shaping the future of mobile at the organisation.
Currently built using React Native, the app increasingly incorporates native elements (Swift/Kotlin) to unlock better performance and user experience. The incoming iOS Engineer will be instrumental in driving this evolution forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and other Native Mobile Engineers within the Mobile Platform team
- Work closely with React Native developers to establish best practices for integrating native code
- Improve app robustness and performance through identification and resolution of technical bottlenecks
- Build new features using native iOS frameworks in partnership with design, backend, and product teams
- Drive technical excellence, with a focus on high-quality code, maintainability, and best-in-class mobile experience
Candidate Profile
- Strong experience developing mobile apps using Swift
- Deep understanding of native iOS development, frameworks, and tools
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality, performant applications
- A passion for clean, maintainable code and continuous improvement
- Strong sense of ownership and a user-centric mindset
Desirable (but not essential):
- Familiarity with mobile security best practices
- Experience collaborating with Android (Kotlin) and/or React Native developers
