We’re working with a global technology business operating within the alternative investments and wealth management space, currently looking to hire a Data Engineer to join their London-based engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a web-based private markets platform, helping to shape how data is ingested, managed, and surfaced across a complex, regulated domain during a period of rapid growth and transformation.

The role

  • Champion strong data architecture and best practices across the engineering team
  • Design, build, and maintain data ingestion pipelines, integrating data from external partners and administrators
  • Own and maintain databases across multiple environments
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver new features and platform functionality
  • Write clean, efficient, well-tested, and maintainable code
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data quality, reconciliation, and performance issues
  • Stay up to date with data engineering trends and share best practices across the team

What we’re looking for

  • Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering, with a focus on Python
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally Azure, for data processing, storage, and reporting
  • Proven experience designing and working with data stores (relational, dimensional, NoSQL, Delta, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Git and version control, ideally within Azure DevOps
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, particularly around data quality and reconciliation

Nice to have

  • Exposure to web technologies such as TypeScript, React, or Node.js
  • Experience within financial services or regulated environments
  • Experience with data reporting and BI tools (e.g. Power BI)
