An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Casual Support Worker to join the team at Nexus Fostering on a casual basis. We are looking for a compassionate and caring support worker to cover Romford and the surrounding areas.
The Role
As Support Worker you will help support children and young people in the Nexus 360 Foster Placement. Nexus 360 is a specialist service designed to meet the needs of children/young people who have experienced neglect, trauma and rejection. As Support Worker you will be providing one to one support to the children/young people within the community, such as leisure activities or at school. You will work closely with the Supervising Social Worker to support the foster carers and encourage the child/young person’s engagement with their care plan and goals.
This post is for a competent worker to engage in direct, focused work with children – to build positive relationships with the child/young person, to model acceptable behaviour and help the child/young person to trust and feel safe with adults.
For this role, willingness to travel and use of a car is essential as the successful applicant will be required to support foster carers and visit placements across Romford and surrounding area.
What we’re looking for…
- Willing to work flexible hours, including non-office hours and at weekends
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes
- Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS
- Experience within child care
- An understanding of challenging behaviours and trauma
- A good understanding of the needs of looked after children
