Oliva is the employee mental wellbeing platform for companies who want to properly care for their people, and help them grow. By combining proper therapy courses, coaching, dedicated support for managers, and mental fitness classes—all led by a curated team of top professionals—Oliva helps employees respond to whatever hurdles life throws at them: big or small, at work and beyond. We are continually developing the services we offer to make sure we are offering the best care to our clients. As part of this process, we have recently launched a new service called Wellbeing Support which we are building a diverse team of Wellbeing Coaches for.
Wellbeing Support Our new ‘Wellbeing Support’ method of evidenced based care is for people who have mild to moderate common mental health problems. We believe that therapy is about learning and when learning anything, we need to practice what we are learning. If you are learning to play the piano you have a lesson and then you practice what you learnt in the lesson between lessons. It’s the same in therapy - you have a therapy session and to get the most out of therapy you need to practice what you learnt in the therapy session. That’s why we are developing novel ways of helping people practice the skills they are learning in therapy. In our new hybrid model every client has a coach and a between session assistant. The between session assistant supports the client to practise specific skills and strategies. As a coach you would be supporting the client to elicit learning and implement new skills and strategies into their lives, problem solving setbacks and supporting them to learn.
What you will do
- You will work closely with our Chief Clinical Officer and Senior Scientist as we develop, test and roll out this new model.
- You will receive training in how to teach people to use specific change mechanisms using an evidenced based coaching model.
- You will deliver coaching sessions via the Oliva platform.
- You will receive clinical supervision and ongoing training for your work with clients.
- You will be expected to complete client notes, attend additional traditional workshops and attend weekly supervision sessions for the first 12 weeks and then monthly thereafter.
You’ll be successful if
- You have a Bachelors or Masters in Psychology, counselling, coaching or similar (ideally with some experience of working with people who have common problems such as anxiety or depression).
- Experience in the mental health space is desirable.
- If you’ve got other experience and are transitioning to the mental wellbeing space, we’d love to hear about it.
- You are a warm, passionate and ambitious individual.
- Ideally, you are based in or within a commutable distance of London and are therefore able and willing to travel in for training days if required but it’s not a must.
- You are proficient in English (verbal and written), extra languages at working proficiency are a plus.
- You are open to new processes and change.
- Already have some understanding of change mechanisms used in evidenced-based interventions.
- You are a quick learner.
- You are able to receive and act on feedback and critically reflect.
- You are able to work in a fast paced, ambitious organisation.
Benefits
- We come to work each day knowing that we’re contributing to a truly meaningful mission: to improve the mental health of millions of people worldwide.
- ACT training
- Remote working most of the time
- Working closely with Dr Sarah Bateup, our Chief Clinical Officer
- You can work anywhere, anytime with a stable internet connection
- Keep in mind: we cannot guarantee the number of referrals
What’s next
You will be told about future training cohorts once they have been announced but due to our small Talent team, there may be a delay in responding to your application initially. You will be invited to self‑record a video interview. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a group role play exercise. A few days prior to the exercise you will be sent an instructional video where you will be taught a simple change mechanism used in evidence-based coaching. You will be asked to practise this change mechanism in the group role play. We don’t expect you to be perfect.
Diversity & Inclusion
We know the tech industry has a diversity problem. Without proactively addressing this, we could easily end up hiring a lot of very similar people. So we’re enthusiastically encouraging applications from underrepresented groups in our industry. We hire with fairness and awareness—and we mean it. Whoever you may be: regardless of age, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, religion, disability, background, or identity, we’d love to hear from you. If you need any adjustments during the interview process, let us know and we’ll accommodate.
Who we are
Oliva is a tight‑knit, experienced, and passionate team of engineers, designers, marketers, and psychologists. We’ve all been through our own battles with burnout, anxiety, low self‑esteem, and depression. And while we’ve all had both positive and less positive experiences with mental healthcare, we know first‑hand that talking through your problems makes a massive difference once you find the right person. Our co‑founders, Javier Suarez, Sançar Sahin and Huw Slater, have all experienced the emotional highs and lows of scaling successful tech startups and lived to tell the tale. Between them they have founded or led teams at TravelPerk, Typeform, Hotjar, and GetApp. If you’ve ever felt like you needed mental health support but had no idea where to start, you’re in good company. Our goal is to stop people feeling like that.
