OLG Recruitment are currently looking for an Asbestos Surveyor for our client located in Scunthorpe. This is a permanent opportunity working 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

As an Asbestos Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing our site’s asbestos database, conducting bulk sampling, and carrying out essential statutory inspections. You’ll also be responsible for managing asbestos surveys across various operations, including refurbishment and demolition projects. Your expertise will be essential in helping us prevent asbestos exposure, ensuring compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, and supporting the health and safety of our workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct asbestos management, refurbishment, and demolition surveys, producing detailed technical reports.
  • Manage and maintain the asbestos database, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Provide bulk asbestos sampling and liaise with our UKAS asbestos analysis laboratory.
  • Advise and support plant areas on all aspects of asbestos management and compliance.
  • Work closely with contractors and external service providers to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that asbestos management strategies are aligned with company goals.
  • Assist with H&S auditing and participate in safety conversations to maintain a proactive safety culture.
  • Provide training to plant personnel, ensuring they remain competent and compliant with regulations.

Qualifications:

  • BOHS P402 qualification (or equivalent)
  • A full UK driving license
  • BOHS P403, BOHS P404, or BOHS S301/W504 (desirable)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in asbestos surveying.
  • Analytical with a keen eye for detail.
  • Previous experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is highly advantageous.
  • Strong computer literacy with a willingness to learn new IT systems.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and communicate potential challenges to key decision-makers.
  • Eagerness to expand knowledge and grow within other areas of Occupational Hygiene.
