OLG Recruitment are looking for an Area Maintenance Lead for our client located in Wakefield. As the The Area Maintenance Lead, you will support the Central Maintenance Lead in the preparation of the resource planning for the On Call Rota and for the preparation and daily update of the Weekly Maintenance Plan. To be effective in this role the Area Maintenance Lead will have strong leadership and process knowledge. This is a full-time permanent opportunity.

Job Purpose :

Reporting to the Maintenance and Reliability Manger, the Area Maintenance Lead will manage a lean and agile team of technicians to respond to and resolve reported plant and equipment breakdowns, ensuring that plant down time and impact on product production is minimised. You will have full responsibility for the execution of site reactive maintenance, ensuring parts and equipment are in place and available and reporting. This role will work closely with the Central Maintenance Lead to ensure that information flow on recurring issues is fed back and into the plan leveraging additional resource as required.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the area maintenance team to resolve breakdowns in a safe, efficient and effective manner minimising the impact on production outputs
  • Conduct triage of plant and equipment to identify maintenance interventions required to return to operation in line with safety and technical standards
  • Work closely with the Site Operations team and with the Central Maintenance Lead to identify breakdown priorities ensuring resources are focussed in the right area
  • Work in collaboration with the Maintenance and Reliability Manger to complete RCI’s against breakdowns to identify potential issues feeding this into Central Maintenance preventative plan
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report on team performance
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities
  • Monitor inventory levels of maintenance supplies and equipment and order as required, through the Central Team
  • Oversee contract support within area of responsibility and ensure all appropriate documentation (including permitary) is in place
  • Ensure Housekeeping is undertaken and safety standards are complied with in the Workshop and surrounding Area
  • Direct Line Management responsibility for the Area Maintenance Team including objective setting, one to ones, development, training and performance

Qualifications:

  • Level 4 Apprenticeship in a recognised maintenance discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in maintenance leadership or a related field

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience working in the chemical manufacturing sector
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, motivate and develop the team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve maintenance issues quickly and efficiently
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling to ensure timely completion of work orders
  • Understanding of safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for the maintenance team
  • Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) to manage and track maintenance activities and spares usage
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, management, and other departments
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines whilst observing all safety aspects of the work

Excellent work package included:

  • Salary: DOE
  • On Call Allowance : £2910 per annum (paid monthly)
  • Bonus: 5%
  • Holidays: 25 days
  • Death in Service : x3 annual salary
  • Pension: Matched contributions up to a max company contribution of 10%
  • Income Protection: subject to terms of insurance
